Why this site exists
The Rice Purity Test has been around for about a century, and millions of people take it every year. Yet many versions online are slow, cluttered with ads, or unclear about what happens to your answers. We wanted to build the version we would want to use ourselves:
- Fast. Pages load in a fraction of a second, even on a weak mobile connection.
- Private. Your answers never leave your device. Only an anonymous final score is counted.
- Honest. We explain clearly what the test can and can't tell you, and we never treat a score as a judgment.
- Inclusive. Alongside the classic test, we offer teen, couples, college, clean and adulting versions so everyone can join in.
What we believe
A purity score is a number of experiences, nothing more. It says nothing about whether someone is kind, smart, trustworthy or worthy of respect. We write all our content, from score explanations to blog posts, with that in mind.
A note on the original
The Rice Purity Test originated at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where versions were published in the student newspaper as early as 1924 and later became an orientation-week tradition. This website is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Rice University. Our questions are written in our own words, inspired by the classic format.
